I have nearly thirty years' experience in a range of contexts as a teacher, trainer, researcher, consultant, examiner, leader, speaker, entrepreneur, and always a learner. What unites these roles is a passion and a commitment to providing all young people – regardless of background or ability - with high quality, inclusive educational opportunities.
I have a particular interest in working with, supporting, and learning from teachers. I have managed and delivered a number of high profile initiatives focusing on teacher CPDL (Continuing Professional Development and Learning) whilst my doctoral research has focused on the experiences of, and influences on, secondary teachers of English.
Past and current freelance work:
Over the last fifteen years, I have developed and managed a range of freelance projects including:
working with or advising government and related agencies to develop educational/cultural policies, practices and resources (for example, the Qualification and Curriculum Authority; Culture, Creativity and Education; Department for Education and Skills/Wellcome Trust); and
supporting those working in schools or cultural organisations, by offering training, coaching/mentoring, consultancy and advice (for example, National Theatre; Royal Shakespeare Company; Booktrust; CapeUK;).
